Hunkering down in Hungerford

Just a short journey today, warm in the sunshine making our way to Hungerford.
Kintbury was a lovely place to stop, with good walks across the fields to the village and up Irish Hill giving fantastic views all around.

Horse drawn trip boat, not in service today.

Approaching through Hungerford bridge, Chance moored in the middle

When we got to Hungerford we moored up opposite nb Chance and nb Autumn Myst. With the sun still shining and it being quite early in the day I thought perhaps I  should get on with some cleaning and polishing, I really couldn't put it off any longer, and moored opposite two such shining examples it gave me an incentive.
So I set too on hands and knees washing the roof, then the side (on the bank side), windows and brass, phew.

After that there was time for a quick visit to the shops before meeting up with James and Doug for tea and cakes.  It was great to meet them properly, although they already feel like friends from following each others blogs over the past 2 years.

Not many miles travelled, but nevertheless a busy day and a happy one too.

3.5 miles, 4 locks

  1. It's good to have the opportunity to take stock every once in a while :)
