Yesterday the city centre was bustling with people out and about enjoying the sunny weather, although out on the river the wind was cold.

In the market place the buttercross is surrounded by shops in a wide pedestrianised area with the parish church on one side and the magnificent cathedral on the other.

The west front of the cathedral is impressive and the precinct buildings surrounding the green attractive too.  Many were enjoying the quiet space within the busy city centre.

Peterborough Lido (17)

Close to the river is the city’s Lido, built in 1936, it is a good example of art deco design.  There are not many of these, once popular, lido’s still in use today.  It is open throughout the summer and has two heated outdoor pools (learner and paddling), a large sunbathing lawn, balcony and refreshment area. It was designated a Grade II listed building in 1992.
